Stock markets ended with small gains after keeping on largely flat throughout the day. The BSE Sensex rose 33.29 points to 35,962.93, whereas the NSE Nifty50 index rose 13.90 points to 10,805.45, The Sensex ended below the crucial 36,000 mark and The Nifty ended just above 10,800 marks in the weekend.
Out of 50 scripts on the NSE, 29 shares ended in the green while 21 in the red. All sectoral indices ended in the green, except Nifty Pharma, Nifty metal and Nifty Financial Services. The Nifty Pharma index declined close to one percent, weighed down by the stocks in Aurobindo Pharma and Divi’s Lab
HCL Tech, JSW Steel, HDFC, Titan and Zee Entertainment were among major losers on Nifty, while Bharti Airtel, BPCL, Yes bank and IOC were leading gainers.
Shares of Oil & Natural Gas Corpn (ONGC) ended 2.06% higher on Friday after the company informed the bourses that its BoD would consider a buyback proposal in a meeting on December 20.
Shares in Bharti Airtel rose 5.32% after TDSAT reportedly quashed provisions concerning to predatory pricing and discounted tariffs.
Infosys share closed higher 1.20 percent to Rs. 706.15 per share after the Company announced the formation of a JV with Hitachi, Ltd., Panasonic Corporation and Pasona Inc.
