On the weekended Friday, July-26, benchmark indices snapped 6-days of losses to close marginally higher, led by gains in Auto&financial stocks . The Nifty & Sensex closed about 1.2% each lower for the week for the third consecutive week amid mixed corporate earnings and sustained selling by FPIs.
The BSE Sensex ended 52-pts or 0.14% higher at 37,883, down 1.22% for the week. The NSE Nifty50 closed up by 33-pts or 0.3% to 11,284, down 1.2% for the week. The Nifty Mid-Cap index slipped 1.6% for the week.
Sectoral gauges were mixed for the week with Nifty Media index gained 5.6%, Pharma rose 1.7%, The Nifty Infrastructure down 1% and PSU bank index declined 5%, Bank Nifty fell 1.5%, Metal down 1.8%, Realty & Consumption index declined 1.1% each and Infrastructure index down 1%
For the top five Nifty gainers for the week, YES Bank names the first up by 15.38% followed by Zee Entertainment up 14.44%, Asian paints up 11.5%, Sun Pharma up 4.41% and Bharti Airtel up 4.12%.
Top five Nifty losers for the week were UPL down 6.51%, followed by HDFC down 5.98%, Adani Ports down 5.9%, , Coal India down 5.07% and Tata motors down 4.97%.
