Sensex, Nifty brought to an end their two-week rally and registered their worst five-day fall in the weekend, falling about 2% each to end at 35,808.95 and 10,724.40 respectively on Friday, 15-February. For the week, the Sensex fell 1.8%, while Nifty declined 1.6% and the Nifty MidCap was fell 4.6%
Sectorally, the Nifty Media was up 10.1% on a weekly basis and the Nifty PSU Bank fell 8% while Nifty Media gained 10.1% and IT gained0.6%.
Among gainers, shares of Zee Entertainment surged 21 percent on a weekly basis followed by Yes Bank by about 17 percent.
The Nifty MidCap was down 4.6% this week From the mid-cap stocks, Dish TV India Ltd surged more than 3%, Gruh Finance surged 14% percent, DHFL and Bata gained over 10 percent each this week.
Among heavy weight stocks in Reliance group, Reliance Power fell over 61%, Reliance Infrastructure declined 57% and Reliance Communications down 52 percent this week. Tata Chemicals and Welspun India were other heavy weights, falling between 15-20 percent this week.
