Today’s market closed lower with the Sensex concluding 127 points down at 40,675, while the Nifty50 index of the NSE closed 54 points lower at 11,994 led by losses in HDFC Bank, Axis Bank, and IndusInd Bank.

Bajaj Auto, Bajaj Finseve, TCS, Kotak Bank, and Infosys were the major gainers in the Nifty, while YesBank, Bharti Infratel, Tata Steel, Adani Ports and Zee Ascertainment were top losers.
Entire sectoral indices, excluding Nifty Realty and IT, closed the day with selling pressure. Major falls were seen in the PSU Bank, metal, Auto. Public sector banking index (PSU) slipped ground by 2.86%, subsequently the Nifty Metal index which declined by 2.6% and Nifty Media, down and 2.3% each. Shares of Bank of India, Union Bank, Jammu&Kashmir Bank, PNB and Syndicate Bank, were down between 4 to 5.5%.

Metal stocks slipped 2.6% on the uncertainty prevailing to the US-China trade deal. Tata Steel, Jindal Steel& Power, JSW Steel, SAIL, and Vedanta declined between 3 to 7%.
