Share benchmarks ended the session on a positive note with the Nifty ending well above 10,650-mark. Investors anticipated cues from exit polls of elections in five states. The BSE Sensex gained 361 points at 35,673, while the NSE Nifty jumped 93 points at 10,694 on closing the week end.
Kotak Mahindra Bank emerged as the top gainer in the Nifty surging 8.84 percent, after the bank clarified that it is unaware of any plans by Berkshire Hathaway to buy stake in the bank, against the report first appeared in CNBC-TV1.
Bajaj Finserve, Adani Ports, Bajaj Auto and Bajaj Finance were the other gainers in sequence, while HCL Tech, Gail India and Sun Pharma were top losers.
Nifty Financial Service, Bank Nifty, Nifty Private Bank were top lead gainers on the index rising upto 1.97 percent, while IT, Metal, Pharma lost the most.
Shares of Muthoot Finance Ltd surged 12.39 percent to Rs. 472.75 per share after the company registered a 23 percent increase in net profit at Rs 975 crore in the first half of FY19, against Rs 791 crore Y-o-Y.
