Key benchmark indices made a good start on Tuesday, after a weak closing registered on Monday.
At 10.15am, the BSE Sensex rose 104 points to 38,704 and the Nifty50 was up 16 points 11,614.45
Hindalco, Bharti Infratel, Hindustan Unilever, PowerGrid and Tata Steel were among top gainers on the Nifty, while BPCL, IOC, UPL, IndusInd Bank and Gail among top index losers.
Among the sectoral indices on the NSE, except Nifty media and Pharma, all other indices are trading higher, with major gains in Nifty metal, up 1.32pc, followed by FMCG, PSU Bank and Nifty bank index.
Shares of HDFC Bank were trading higher by 0.86 percent at Rs2348.50 per share after the private Bank to consider stock split on May 22.
Oil futures edged lower in the commodity market, since Trump’s tariff warning offset bullishness ensuing from growing worries between the U.S and Iran. Brent crude oil was 0.3pc lower at USD71.00/barrel.
