Sensex, Nifty rise, Metal, Media stocks lead

Key benchmark indices –Sensex & Nifty– move up on positive zone on Friday. The rupee was opened lower at 70.74 vs the US dollar, against Thursday’s close of 70.72per dollar.

On the economy front, the Key macro-economic data were released after market hours on Thursday, which is in line with investors’ direction. Government data indicated India’s GDP growth slowed to a six-quarter low of 6.6% year-on-year during Oct-Dec period of FY2018-19, after expanding 7-pc in the previous 3 months.

Coming to market, The BSE Sensex rose 199points at 36,066, and the NSE Nifty gained 58 points at 10,851 at 10.30 am Friday.

India Bulls Housing, Hero MotoCorp, Vedanta, Yes Bank and Adani Ports are major gainers on the Nifty while Bharti Airtel, Cipla, Wipro, Dr.ReddyLab and Titan were losers.

All the sectoral spaces are moving higher with media, metal and PSU Bank advanced the most,
