The key benchmark indices, after yesterday’s heavy fall, made a quick jump through the afternoon session Tuesday with BSE benchmark gaining 424 points at 38,233.41 and the NSE Nifty50 reclaiming 11,483 levels up by 129 points on closing. The strength in rupee also supported the equities.
Among sectoral indices, Nifty PSU Bank, Nifty Pvt Bank, Nifty Bank, Financial Services indices have performed well, in which the PSU Bank is the topper, gaining 3.13% led by buying strength in Union Bank, Canara Bank and Syndicate Bank.
On the contrary, the Nifty IT index floated under pressure and ended lower at the index at index closing at 15,356.60, down by 0.31 percent.
NTPC, State Bank of India, Vedanta, Reliance and Bajaj Finance were the major gainers, while TechMahindra, Indian Oil, UPL, Infosys and Wipro were top losers on the Nifty50.
Among the other leading stocks, ONGC stock advances 1.62% on interim dividend announcement. Hindustan Construction Co (HCC) stock rallied 8.01% after pact to monetize claims and shares of Jet Airways jumped 5.37% on fund infusion.
