Domestic shares ended a negative note on Thursday dragged by IT, and FMCG stocks. The Sensex closed at 38,981.43, down 50.12-points, while the NSE Nifty50 ended at 11,724.80, falling 23.4-points. Nifty Midcap fell 0.7pc, while the Nifty Smallcap was flat for the day.
Infratel, PowerGrid, YES Bank, Hero Moto Corp and HDFC Bank were the top gainers on the Nifty50 index, while Britannia, ZEE Entertainment, IndusInd Bank, TataMotors and ICICI Bank fell the most on the index.
Financial as well as Banking stocks gained on Nifty50. Kotak Bank, Yes Bank, Punjab National Bank and HDFC Bank gained upto over 3% during the day. Meanwhile, IT companies namely TCS and Infosys slipped over 2pc each; with Nifty IT index shedding 1.81-pc during the day.
Falls in FMCG index were led by, Britannia Industries, Dabur India, UnitedSpirits, Godrej and Colgate Palmolive. Dabur shares slipped 3.8% after its Q4 net profit declined more than 6pc on year on year basis.
Shares of TVS Motor down 2.53% after it reported a 19pc year-on-year fall in net profit at Rs.134-Crore for Q4FY19.
