The benchmark indices bounced back sharply in the closing hours on Monday as stocks in banking, O&G, auto, FMCG and healthcare witnessed fresh spells of buying and short-covering by investors. The BSE Sensex ended higher by 97.39 points at 34,474.38 whereas the Nifty50 settled 31.60 points higher at 10,348.05 in trade.
Top Gainers include HPCL up 8.4%, Yes Bank up 7.65%, IOC up 5.89% and Reliance up 5.84 percent. On the other hand, shares of Vedanta, Hindalco, Tech Mahindra suffered the most.
Among the sectoral indices on NSE, Nifty bank, Nifty Auto, Nifty PSU bank and Private bank went up, while Nifty Pharma, Metal, Media, IT and FMCG were top index losers.
Some select non-banking financial companies fell in intra-day, today after the RBI in its Friday meet said to address asset liability difference of non-banking lenders in the wake of IL&FS crisis.
