Sensex, Nifty end 4-pc higher led by auto, Banking stocks


The key benchmark indices continued their gains through Thursday’s session and closed with Sensex reclaiming over 31,159 mark, up over 1265 points while the Nifty up by 363 points to end at 9111.90.

Mahindra&Mahindra, Maruti-Suzuki, Cipla Pharma, Titan Company, and Tata Motors were the top gainers on the Nifty-fifty index, while Hindustan Unilever, Dr Reddy, Tech Mahindra, IndusInd Bank, and Nestle India led the losses.

Auto stocks led the rally with major auto rally by Motherson Sumi, Mahindra and Mahindra, Maruti Suzuki and Tata Motors between 19.40 and 10.21 percent. Track the best stock tips today, top market updates from here.

Banking stocks followed the rally with Nifty banking index climbed at 19,881.50, up by 935 points led by Axis bank, ICICI Bank, IDFC First Bank by over 7 percent each. Pharma stocks followed the suit with the Nifty Pharma index rising 5.50 percent higher at 8,792.95/

All sectoral indices on the Nifty ended in the positive terrain for the day. Nifty Financial added 5.80 percent, and Nifty Metal went up 5 percent each.
