Indian shares ended higher on Friday with Buying in heavyweight stocks such as ITC, Infosys, Maruti and ICICI Bank which helped benchmark indices settle in the positive territory. On closing hours, the Sensex was up 160 points at 38767-mark, while NSE Nifty was up 46.75 points at 11,643.45.
Shares of ITC, GAIL, Maruti Suzuki, Zee Entertainment and Cipla were among major top gainers on the Nifty stocks, whereas losers were Indiabulls Housing, Indian Oil Corp, L&T, Tata Motors and Bajaj Finance.
All sectoral indices ended in the green, among them, auto, Media and FMCG indices led the gains with over 1 percent gains. IT, Pharma and Realty have also gained with marginal gains upto 0.31%. The Nifty Media index gained 1.42% to end at 2,442.85, with major gains in TV18 Broadcast (up 9.63%) and Network18 Media (up 4.70%).
Shares TCS (down 0.32%) and Infosys (up 0.71%) ended flat ahead of their Q4 earnings to be released after market hours.
Shares of DHFL fell 3.33% to Rs.166.90-per share percent after Brickwork Rating’s down-grade.
