Sensex Nifty Closed Flat; Auto, Metal stock rise

Market Closing Updates: Stock Markets ended flat on Thursday, snapping their two-day winning rally, to settle with minor gains on Nifty.

At the closing hours, the BSE Sensex stood at 36644.42 down by 80-pts, while the Nifty gained a tad higher up by 3-pts at 10847.90

Tata Motors, Coal India, ONGC, BPCL and Yes Bank were among major Nifty gainers, whereas losses led by HDFC, Iindiabulls Housing, ICICI Bank, TCS and Kotak Bank.

Nifty Auto, Metal, Media, Pharma and PSU bank surged with maximum gains in Auto and Metal up by 2% and 2.6% respectively, while Bank, Fin Service, FMCG, IT stocks, Private Bank and Realty indices ended in the red.

The Nifty Mid-Cap & Small-Cap indices also rose by 0.3% and 0.8% respectively.

Selling pressure was witnessed in the popular Nifty Bank index which slipped 0.75% led by maximum losses in ICICI Bank, Kotak Bank at higher levels. In addition, Federal bank, IndusInd Bank, HDFC Bank, SBI and RBL contributed minimum losses.

Nifty auto index settled about 2.6% higher with Tata Motors being the top gainer with a jump of 8% followed by Bharat Forg, Motherson Sumi Systems, Maruti Suzuki and Exide Industries.

Among key stocks, TCS closed 1.31% lower at Rs.2215.95 per share on NSE, while Reliance Industries shares ended lower by 0.65% quoting share price at Rs.1193.40 on NSE.

Private lender HDFC Bank shares slipped 0.70% , quoting at Rs.2232 while FMCG major Hindustan Unilever’s stock closed at Rs.1830 per share, closing 0.90% lower at close on NSE.

Also Housing Development Finance Corpn (HDFC) stock settled at Rs.2041, down by 2.81 percent in Thursdays’ trading session.
