Key benchmark indices settled the day on a record close with Infosys leading gains, both on Sensex and Nifty, after IT major beat strong quarterly profit estimates.
At close, the Sensex settled 260-pts higher at 41,859, while the Nifty also recorded at a new closing high of 12,329, up 73 points.
Among top gainers, Infosys Ltd, IndusInd Bank, CoalIndia, GAIL India and Bharti Airtel were the top gainers on Nifty. On the other hand, YesBank, BhartiInfratel, UPL, Tata Consultancy Services, and Eicher Motors led the losses.
All sectoral indices have closed in the green with major buying seen in the Nifty Realty index, which rose 2.09 percent, while Nifty IT and metal added 1.67-percent and 1.17 percent respectively. The FMCG index also went higher 1.13 percent for the day.
Shares of Infosys gained both on the NSE & BSE, as investors continue to buy the stock after T-the company on Friday announced results that exceeded expectations. The stock ended the day higher by 4.65 percent to Rs772.50-per share.
On the downside, Yes Bank shares slipped 5.81% after investors worried about the bank’s fundraising and corporate governance matters.
Shares in L&T Finance Holdings rallied near 4% to Rs.126.75-per share, after a foreign brokerage has upgraded the BUY on stock.
