Sensex down 807-pt, Nifty Slips 251-pt; Metal, Auto witness steep selling


Stock Market indices hit a new intraday low in the afternoon trade led by Metal and Banking stocks. Meantime, top IT names Infosys, Tech Mahindra and Wipro were among top contributors to the Nifty index gain.

At 3.15-pm, the Sensex plummeted 803 points to 40366, while the NSE Nifty dropped 255 points to 11825-mark.

Over 100 securities touched to their one-year or 52-week low on the NSE include, Hero MotoCorp, Larsen and Toubro, Hindustan Zinc, even as the Sensex slipped more than 560 points in trade.

Shares in Hero MotoCorp recorded its new one-year-low of Rs.2,190.30 on the NSE, on worries on the persistent slowdown reportedly in the auto sector.

The Hindustan Zinc stock that dropped to a one-year of Rs179.50 since the results for the Q3 were beyond expectations.

Larsen-and-Toubro (L&T) also slipped to a one-year-low of Rs.1,252.65 as investors continued to trouble about a slowdown in the economy.

Meantime, over 50 stocks touched its new one-year high levels on the NSE include Muthoot Finance which advanced 2.20 percent higher to Rs.945.00 and touched its one year-high after the Company raises 550-million-dollar through dollar bond, offering a coupon of 4.4%.

GMR Infrastructure extended rally after France’s Group ADP to buy 49 percent stake in GMR Airports. The stock touched its one-year high level at Rs.26.65 today, on the NSE.

Max Financial Services hit its new-one-year high at Rs.609.65 on the Nse, after the company has entered into an exclusivity deal with Axis Bank.
