Open Market: Sensex, Nifty Trade Lower Ahead of Budget Outcome


As the India Govt follows its tradition of presenting the Union Budget on February 1, in spite of being a Saturday, the NSE and BSE and the Commodity markets carry out regular trading session today.

The Finance Minister Mrs.Nirmala Sitharaman will present the second Budget of Modi Govt today, 1st February amidst high anticipation of a personal tax rate cut and other steps to boost the economy.

The market benchmark indices were moving lower on weak U.S stocks right from the very opening. The sectoral indices on the Nifty are seen mixed with gains and losses with the Metal, IT, Media and Baking were trading in the red, while Realty, Auto, FMCG, Pharma and the PUS Bank were in the green.

Gail India, Hindustan Unilever, JSW Steel, Bajaj Finserve and Bharat Petroleum Corp were among major gainers in the Nifty. On the downside, Tech Mahindra, PowerGrid, Coal India, NTPL and Tata Steel were major losers.
