Indian stock benchmark indices closed their day’s high level with Nifty above 10,845-mark supported by the stocks in Banking, Financial, metal, and IT.
At the closing bell, the Sensex stood at 36774.27, up by 211.36-pts and the NSE Nifty up 58.60-pts at 10856.50.
Tata Steel, BPCL, IOC, Dr.Reddys and JSW Steel were among major Nifty gainers, while Maruti, SunPharma, Britannia, Tata Motors and Asian Paints led the losses the most.
Among sectoral indices, metal stock traded with significant gains (up 1.61%) led by profits in SAIL, Jindal Steel, Tata Steel and Hindustan Copper.
The Nifty bank index closed higher by 1.12% supported by RBL bank, SBI and bank of Baroda,
Auto stocks skid the most, with Nifty Auto index falling 1.68% at 6,782-level driven by Maruti, Ashok Leyland and Bosch. However shares of Apollo tyres, TVS Motors, Hero Moto Corp and Amara Raja Batteries rose upto 3.5%
In other indices, Nifty PSU and Private Bank index added 0.93% and 0.75% respectively on the day.
