Nifty-Sensex Ended Higher Led By Auto, Banking Stocks

Weekend Market Close: Domestic equity markets ended marginally higher as both Nifty and Sensex closed in the green.

At the closing bell, the the BSE Sensex scaled at 37,882.79 up by 52 points, while the NSE Nifty stood at 11,284.30, up by 32-points in trade.

Yes Bank, Bajaj Finserv, Bajaj Finance, Eicher Motors and Bharti Infratel were among major gainers on the Nifty, while Vedanta, IOC, Bharti Airtel, HDFC and Tech Mahindra led the losses.

Among sector, the Nifty Auto index outperformed the benchmark index by 2.15% as a strong buying witnessed in stocks such as Eicher Motors, HeroMotoCorp, TVS Motors, M&M and Bajaj Auto, which drive gains by 3 to 4% in range.

Nifty Bankings/Financial also ended higher with Pvt bank (+1.24%), PSU bank (+1.13%) Bank Nifty (+0.97%) and Nifty Financial also ended 0.58% on closing. However, the Nifty IT, the single index ended in the red by 0.82% led by losses NIIT Tech (-2.08%), followed by Tata Elxi and TechMahindra by 1% each.

The PSU Bank index’s gains were driven by PNB (+3.18%), and Bank of Baroda (+2.56%) on strong profits.

Shares of Maruti Suzuki closed at Rs5280/share up by 1.10% after reporting earning-results today.

Shares of Bajaj Auto closed at Rs.2624/share up by 3.02% after reporting earning-results today.

Shares of Tata Motors closed at Rs148.20 per share, up by 2.70% after having posted its Q1-consol earning loss of Rs3679.7cr, YoY.
