Key benchmarks began trade today on a strong note with the Nifty crossing over 11,000 points. During morning trade, the Nifty climbed 75 points to 11010-level, and moved greater pace through the second half session, touching over 100 points to hit at 11038-marks. The gains were mainly led by buying force in media and IT stocks.
Nifty IT index surged near 2 percent at 16,051-level with all the components trading in green, led by Tech Mahindra (up 7.14%), Infibeam Avenues (up 3.33%) followed by TCS, Wipro Mindtree, and Infosys, higher upto over 1 percent each.
Gains in Tech Mahindra reasoned after reporting its strong earning for Q3FY19. The IT giant’s stock showed share 52-week high of Rs 807 on both the NSE and BSE.
Shares of the other IT bellwether Infosys Limited also jumped to a new all-time high of Rs. 766.95 on the NSE. In the last one year, the Infosys stock has given returns upto 33 percent.
At 2.25 pm the Nifty50 index quoted at 11053.60 up by 119 points, while Sensex at 36968.72 up 351 points.
