Domestic stocks closed higher for a second consecutive session on Wednesday, lifting gains in Asian stocks. The 30-scrip Sensex of the BSE ended 428 points higher at 41,323-level, while the NSE’s Nifty50 index settled 137.80 points higher at 12,130.30.
Among sectoral indices on the Nifty, the Pharma index advanced the most by 2.32 percent, driven by Aurbindo Pharma, Cadila Healthcare, Piramal Enterprises, and Cipla, up by 3 to 20.78 percent.
As the second most sectoral index winner, the Nifty Media advanced 1.94 percent led by Network18 Media & Investments, SunTV and Zee Media, which were up by 3 to 5 percent.
The Nifty FMCG, Financial Service, Metal and Realty also advanced by 1 and 1.64 percent in range.
Bharti-Infratel stock emerged as the top gainer in the Nifty. The other gainers followed in the index are Grasim, Coal India, Zee Entertainment and Hindustan Unilever.
On the downside, Tata Motors slipped the most, down by 2.17 percent, followed by JSW Steel, Sun Pharma, TCS, and Bharti Airtel.Track Stock Market Tips updates from here.Nifty trading tips
Among stocks, Vodafone Idea gained 40 percent to clock the biggest single-day gain on the back of reports that Govt is unlikely to invoke the Company’s bank guarantees for now.
Hindustan Unilever among others has touched its one-year high level in share price to Rs.2308-per share on the NSE and has closed at Rs.2,296-per share, up by Rs.62- from the previous closing.
