Equity indices reached marginally higher on Monday after a volatile session led by gains in Reliance, Bajaj Auto and ONGC in both indices. The BSE Sensex ended at 36,582.74, up 113.31 points while the Nifty50 index settled at 10,912, up 18 points.
All sectoral spaces on the NSE ended on a mixed note with Nifty Pharma, down 1.76% and Media indices down 1.38%, each followed by realty, metal, FMCG and PSU bank declined upto 0.50% in range, whereas the Bank, financial service, IT, index ended in the green.
Among gainers, Titan, ONGC, Reliance, Eicher Motors and Bajaj Auto gained the most. Conversely, Indiabulls, Hindalco, Yes Bank, HPCL and Power Grid fell the most.
Shares of DHFL closed 3.46% after the company said that it is seeking a strategic partner to bring fresh equity.
Shares of Titan Company gained 3.32% to Rs 1,024 apiece, after the company reported strong net profit of Rs 416 crore in December quarter.
Shares of Reliance Communications (RCom) crashed on Monday near 35 percent after the company filed for insolvency on Friday.
