Domestic stocks logged with moderate gains after sustained volatility in trade with BSE Sensex rising 52.79 points at 36,374.08, while the NSE Nifty50 index up by 14.90 points at 10,905.20, on closing.
GAIL, BPCL, Bhati Infratel and Axis Bank were sequentially gained on the Nifty50, whereas Sun Pharma, Yes bank, Zee Entertainment and Eicher Motors were major losers.
On BSE, Axis Bank was the top performer followed by HCL Tech, HDFC and TCS as against Sun Pharma, Yes Bank and SBI as top losers in the index, in sequence.
Nifty sectorally, FMCG, media, metal, Pharma and PSU Bank ended in the red wherein Nifty media falls the most by 2.08 percent followed by PSU Bank down by 1.56 percent. On the other hand, Nifty bank, Auto, Financial service, IT, Private bank and realty indices traded in the green with reality demonstrated top in the index, up by 1.19 percent.
Among other stocks, Hindustan Unilever declined 1.27% ahead of its Q3 result later today, while Reliance Industries fell 0.26% at Rs. 1,133 per share, waiting for its results.
