Market Close Today: Benchmark indices made a recovery from the mid-session volatility and closed higher with Sensex zoomed at 38,127 level, up 247 points, while the NSE Nifty scaled at 11301- up 67 points on Friday weekend.
Cipla and Infosys added over 4 pc each to settle as the as top gainers at the 50-share index Nifty, while IOC settled as the top loser on the index, down 3.3 pc.
Vedanta, Tata Motors and ONGC were the other major gainers in the Nifty, whereas Yes bank, Gail, M&M and Reliance industries were descending the losses.
On the Sectoral watch on Nifty indices, excluding Pvt bank and media, all the gauges on the NSE ended in the green. The Nifty Metal index gained the most to hit the index at 2,335- levels, up 2.27 pc, followed by Nifty IT which added near 1.5% led by Infosys and NIIT Technologies.

Nifty Metal index outperformed among sectoral gauges, up 2.27% at 2335 today. Among the risen constituents, Vedanta rose 4 pc, Jindal Steel gained 3.19 pc and Hindalco jumped 2.77 pc.
