Indian stock market indices opened higher on Monday with the Nifty touching 12,400 level at the very morning session.
At 9.45-am, the Sensex traded at 41973, up by 28 points and the Nifty stood at 12355, up by 3 points.
PowerGrid, Bharat Petroleum, Bharti Infratel, Asian Paints and Tata Motors were among major gainers in the Nifty, whereas Indian Oil Corp, Zee Entertainment, HCL Technologies, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) and Wipro were losers.
Sectoral indices on the Nifty were moving between gains and losses, with the Nifty Realty rising the most, up by 0.32-percent led by Oberoi Realities, Prestige and Brigade.
On the downside, IT, media and banking indices were trading in the red with a major cut in the Nifty Media which slipped 0.73 percent led by Dish TV and TV Today.
Among stocks, Reliance Industries traded lower by 0.70-pc to Rs1,570-per share, even after the company reported strong quarterly numbers.

Shares of TCS were down by 1.13 percent to Rs.2,194.00, after the company reported lower than expected quarterly numbers.
