The market front-line indices closed Tuesday’s session in negative territory. The BSE Sensex finished 205-pts lower at 41,323 with Kotak Mahindra Bank and Bharti Airtel were among top gainers.
The NSE flagship Nifty ended at 12,169, down 54-pts with Tata Steel, Mahindra & Mahindra, Power Grid and Asian Paints were top losers. On the other hand, Kotak-M-Bank, BhartiAirtel, HDFC, and IndusInd Bank were among losers on the Nifty.
The Nifty and Bank Nifty indices closed lower by 0.45 and 0.43 percent each, while the Nifty Auto index closed 1.28 percent down, led by a 2.86 percent fall in the stock price of Mahindra and Mahindra.
Among banking stocks, Federal Bank gained 0.96 percent after the Bank reported 32.1-pc growth in net profit to Rs.440.64-Cr for QEFY2020.
Shares of Hindustan Zinc dropped 1.83 percent to Rs.212.40-per share after the company reported 6% fall in profit for Q3.
Shares of KEI Industries surged 2.64 percent after reporting a 49 percent year-on-year rise in profit for Q3.
Shares in Spencers Retail jumped 20 percent after Radha Krishna Damani picks 2 percent stake during the December quarter.
