Indian share markets closed the Thursday session lower, breaking six days of consecutive gains dragged by banking and financial stocks.
The BSE Sensex settled the day lower by 128-pts at 33,981, while the NSE Nifty lost 32-pts in trade. Banking/finance heavyweights stocks such as HDFC, HDFC Bank and ICICI Bank witnessed some selling.
Vedanta, Bharti Airtel, Zee Ent, Tech Mahindra and Sun pharma were among major gainers while losers were Asian Paints, Bajaj Finance, HDFC, IndusInd Bank and Kotak Bank led the losses. Track latest market updates Best stock tips and best shares to invest in from here.
