Markets higher on Tuesday, after three consecutive days of falls, stimulated by gains in Bharti Airtel and positive data from an early trial of a potential COVID-19 vaccine.
The Sensex closed 167-pts higher at 30,196-mark, while the Nifty advanced 56-pts to settle at 8,879-level. Banking stocks extended drops with the Nifty Bank index declined around 0.50 on closing. Bharti Airtel, Adani Ports, Oil and Natural Gas Corp (ONGC), UltraTech Cement, and Grasim were the top Nifty50 gainers, while UPL, Vedanta, Reliance Industries and IndusInd Bank led the losses.
Bharti Airtel climbed 10.80-pc after the company reported a 15-pc rise in revenue. Oil and Natural Gas Corp rose over 5.7-pc after crude oil jumped to a 2-month high on easing lockdowns.
