The benchmark indices ended on flat note Wednesday after experiencing high volatility in stocks with selling pressure emerged in HDFC, HDFC Bank, ITC and Kotak Bank. Sensex rose nearly 3 points higher at 36,321,29 while the Nifty50 closed 3.50 points at 10,890.30.
Among the top gaining stocks on Nifty were Indiabulls Housing Finance, Yes bank, Wipro, IndusInd bank, which rose between 2 percent and 2.66 percent in range. On the other hand, JSW Steel, Bharti Airtel, Bajaj Finance were major index losers.
Bharti Airtel and Vedanta also featured as top losers in the BSE Sensex. Conversely, Yes Bank and IndusInd bank reached at bottom in the Sensex.
Sectorally, the Nifty PSU Bank index gained the most and was up by 0.60 percent, followed by Private bank, Bank Nifty, IT and Pharma. On the other hand, FMCG, Media and Metal were the top sectoral losers.
Among specific stocks, Speciality Restaurants in the Nifty service sector close higher 19.98% at Rs. 97 per share, while Jet Airways falls 7.47 percent to Rs. 271.75 after profit surges in Q3.
