The Sensex dropped nearly 1200-pts from the day’s peak level to close the session lower, as selling pressure through the final hour weighed in private sector banks led to fall.
At close, the BSE Sensex declined 310-pts to 30,380-level and the Nifty closed at 8925.30, down by 68-pts for the day.
Among sectors, the Nifty consumer goods index or FMCG closed higher (up 4.13-pc), followed by Nifty Realty (up (up 1.84-pc) while on downside the Nifty Bank slipped 2.21-pc and the Nifty Auto index ended 1.82-pc lower.

Pharma stocks carried on to witness buying force with Glenmark and Aurbindo Pharma being among the top gainers in the Nifty Pharma index. The index however ended a little lower by 0.06 percent with selling pressure in Cadila health care and Sun pharma.
