Indian share benchmark indices ended higher on Tuesday, led by profits in banking and metal stocks.
The BSE Sensex ended 165.94 points higher at 39,950.46, while the Nifty50 index of the NSE added 42.90 points to end at 11,965.60.
YESBank, TataMotors, IndusIndBank, Zee and JSW Steel were among the top gainers on the Nifty50, while Indiabulls, SunPharma, Mahindra&Mahindra, BPCL, and Tech Mahindra led the losses.
All sectoral indices, except NiftyPharma and Nifty FMCG, gained. The Nifty PSU Bank was the best performing Index, up 1.69pc followed by the Nifty Metal, up 1.38pc and Nifty Media, up 1.31% for the day. Nifty Bank indeed added 0.75pc and Nifty Pvt Bank also gained 0.79pc for the day.
As top the loser, shares of Indiabulls Housing ended on Nifty, down 8.07pc. Also, shares of Sun Pharma slipped 2.62pc after Goldman Sachs downgraded the stock to SELL and reduce the price of target from Rs437 to Rs355.
