The NSE benchmark Nifty, which had suffered a minor loss over the last two trading sessions, today opened at 11,900-level.
Indian rupee started the session at 71.95, lower by 11-ps, against previous day’s close of 71.84/USD.
In the commodity market, Crude-Oil prices slipped for the second straight-day as there were no major progress in the U.S-China deal. Brent crude futures declined 1.6-pc to USD-62.29-per barrel.
At around 9.50-am, the BSE Sensex was at 40,314 level, up by 31 points, while the NSE Nifty scaled at 11889, up by 5 points. Bharti Infratel, Bharti Airtel, Cipla, Grasim, and Tech Mahindra were major gainers on the Nifty, while Zee Entertainment, Vedanta, Hindustan Unilever, Gail and Hindalco led the losses.

Sectoral indices were mixed, with declines in Auto, Fin services, FMCG, media, metal, PSU bank and Realty, whereas buying seen in Nifty bank, IT, Pharma and Private bank.
Among the buzzing stocks, one of the top performer Bharti Airtel added 5.67% to Rs.432.40 -per share after the company said it would hike tariff from December first to control revenue fall.
Shares in Vodafone Idea also traded higher by over 22% after it said that it will increase tariffs with effect from first December.
Share of SBI Life insurance slipped 6.20% to Rs.938-per share after a block deal.
