Key benchmark indices edged higher on Tuesday led by gains in heavyweight stocks such as Reliance, HDFC Bank, Infosys and SBI.
However, soon after marking an opening in the positive zone, markets pared gains. As of 10.15AM, the Sensex was trading 21 points up at 38,116 levels, while the Nifty at 11,463levels, up 0.01%.
Gainers include ONGC, Bharti Infratel, Dr. Reddy’s and SunPharma, while losers are Eicher Motors, Hero MotoCorp, Bajaj Auto L&T and Mahindra and Mahindra.
Among the sectors on the NSE , shares in auto, IT, Media and metal are under some selling pressure, while pharma, PSU Bank, realty and FMCG are witnessing buying interest.
As a major support, shares of the Anil Ambani-led group companies such as Reliance Communications Ltd (Rcom), Reliance Power, Reliance Capital, Reliance Naval and Reliance Infrastructure, surged after Anil Ambani avoided jail by paying back Ericsson dues a day before a Supreme Court deadline.
