Key benchmarks posted their best close over six weeks on the week ended Friday, buoyed by gains in Reliance Industries Ltd, the country’s biggest conglomerate by market capitalization.
The 50-scrip NSE Nifty closed 0.62% higher at 10,682.2, while the BSE sensitive index ended up 0.56% at 35,457.16. Both benchmarks finished the week 0.9% higher.
Shares of Reliance Industries Limited climbed 2.8%, while HDFC Bank rose 1.5% and HDFC climbed 1.9% in trade. Shares of Bharti Airtel ended 9.3% higher, while those of larger peer Vodafone Idea Ltd closed up 16.5%. Yes Bank was the top loser on the index, shedding 7.2% under turmoil in its management.
