Indices clocked with gains, FM’s Relief Measure boosts Markets


Tuesday’s volatile market eventually ended with gains. The BSE Sensex closed with gains of 692-points higher at 26,674, while the NSE Nifty too ended with gains of 191- points at 7,801.35. In the broader markets, the BSE Mid &Small-cap closed the session up by 1.56-pc & 0.05-pc, respectively.

IT index topped with Infosys, climbed higher by near 14-pc at 600-per share. Other index gainers were AdaniPorts (up 13.81-pc), Britannia (up 11.8-pc), Bajaj Finance (up 10.8-pc) and Maruti Suzuki-up by 7.70-pc in the Nifty-50.

On the downside, Mahindra & Mahindra, Grasim and IndusInd Bank slipped between ~8 and ~7 percent each. Also, PowerGrid and Bharti Infratel were dropped by 2.75 – 2.37 percent each and were among top losers. Watch latest stock market updates, from here.

FM Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman today announced some steps in the midst of the India’s prevailing lock-down situation. The major relief measures included Financial-Year-2019 returns filing deadline is extended till June.

In addition, she also announced that companies with less than Rs.5-Cr turn-over will have no interest, penalty etc in GST. But for the companies having a turn-over more than Rs.5-Cr, a 9-pc interest will be imposed.
