Markets ended sharply higher led by strong global cues. The Sensex climbed the day with gains of 226-points at 41613, and the Nifty jumped 68 points at 12248 on closing.
Except for the Nifty IT and Pharma, all the sectoral indices of the NSE ended in the green, where Banking, Financial, FMCG, Media and the Metal indices advanced by 0.77 to 0.92 percent each.
Nifty IT index, however, slipped marginally driven by shares of NIIT Tech, JustDial and Hexaware Tech.
The top three gainers which led 30-share Sensex higher are Ultratech Cement, TechMahindra, L&T and Axis Bank.

Among stocks reacted to results, Radico Khaitan rallied 6.67 percent to Rs.381.50-per share after the company on Thursday posted near 13 percent increase in its consolidated net profit for the quarter ended Dec at Rs.59.74-cr.
Shares of PNB Housing Finance slipped for the second consecutive session today by another 10.88 percent to Rs.481-per share, after the lender on Thursday reported a 22 percent fall in its Q3FY20 net profit at Rs.237.02-cr as against Rs302.97-crore a year before.
Shares of AU-Small Finance too climbed another 12.26 percent for the second consecutive session, to hit a new record high Rs.1094-per share on NSE after the company reported about 100 percent growth in net profits to Rs.190-cr for Q3FY20.
Shares in Ultratech Cement gained 2.58 percent to Rs.4643-apiece, after the Company today posted an impressive rise in its Q-3-console-net profit at Rs.712-Cr, registering 80-percent rise, on a year-on-year basis.
