Shares in the fast-moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) were trading in the positive zone during the mid-morning session, in the otherwise falling market, with the NSE FMCG index rising 20.90 points or 0.07% at 28,773.05 at 10.40am.

Among the stocks of the FMCG index, Colgate Palmolive traded up by 1.34%, Godrej Consumer Products up near 1%, Jubilant Foodworks gained 0.53%, GlaxoSmithKline Consumer Healthcare up by 0.55%, Hindustan Unilever added 0.51%, Britannia Industries up by 0.50%, Godrej Industries rose 0.33% and Dabur India, up by 0.11%.

On the flip side, Tata Global Beverages traded lower by 2.10%, United Spirits lost 0.59%, ITC down 0.61% and United Breweries down 30%, which were among falling stocks on FMCG Index.

Shares of tobacco companies had rallied on Wednesday’s session after the India govt approved a ban on e-cigarettes. However, in today’s trading-session Cigarette company stocks are also trading in the negative circuit.

ITC down 0.82% to 237-per share, as against its previous closing of Rs.239. Godfrey Philips India trade lower at 965.85, down by 2.70% from its previous closing of Rs.992.70.
