Market benchmark indices hit a new intraday low during mid-session, led by IT stocks. Meantime, Hindustan Unilever, Grasim and UPL rose among top contributors to the Nifty index gain. At 12:00-hrs, the Sensex slowed at 40356-level, down by 130 points while the Nifty stood at 11899.55, down 38 points.

IT stocks traded backward as the Indian rupee appreciated. The Nifty IT index continued its losses, down by 1.24% at 14,968.75. The index has slipped 2.25pc in the last three trading sessions.
JustDial slipped 2.68%, followed by TCS, Tech Mahindra, HCL Tech and Mindtree were top losers.
Shares of Housing Dev Finance Corp (HDFC) rose 0.22% to Rs.2,316.45 after the company proposed to buy 9.12-pc stake in its subsidiary Company HDFC Credila for Rs395-Cr.
Shares of Bharti Infratel slipped 2.21% to Rs.254.65, ahead of its board meet today to consider the interim dividend.
