Key benchmark indices continued to trade higher keeping up morning gains on Friday with the Nifty above the 12,086 level, up 114 points while the Sensex scaled up 428 points higher at 41,009.
Axis Bank, Vedanta, SBI, Maruti-Suzuki were among major gainers on the Nifty and Sensex, while Dr.Reddys, Bharti Airtel, Zeel, KotaBank and UPL slipped, among Nifty losers.
Sectorally, single Nifty Pharma traded flat with no index rise, while the remaining sectoral indices witnessed buying.
The Nifty Metal index closed 2.26% higher led by Vedanta, Hindalco by 3.76 and 3.55% respectively, followed by Coal India and Tata Steel, up 3% each. Metal stocks have been on the spotlight over trade deal optimism, which improves the demand outlook for metals.
