Sensex, Nifty end higher; SBI lifts PSU Bank 4%; Capital goods, consumer durables rose

The benchmark BSE Sensex ended higher by 63 points as the investor sentiment was buoyed after the GST Council cut the list of goods to be taxed at 28% to just 50.

The BSE index Sensex ended higher by 63.63 points at 33,314.56 and the NSE Nifty closed up 12.8 points at 10,321.75. The Sensex touched the day’s peak of 33,380.42 and a low of 33,108.09.

Capital goods gained the most by 1.87%, followed by consumer durables 1.36%, banking 1.00% and PSU 0.87%, while healthcare index fell 0.92%, oil & gas 0.71%, auto 0.63%.

Top five Sensex gainers were SBI, L&T, HUL, M&M and ICICI Bank, while the major losers were Tata Motors, Reliance, Asian Paints, Sun Pharma and Kotak Bank.
