The benchmark BSE Sensex hits record high crossing above 30K levels in the opening hours on Wednesday. The NSE Nifty also hits fresh high tracking gains in the global equity markets. At 10.30 am, the BSE Sensex, was trading up 154.46 points or 0.52% at 30,097.70. The NSE Nifty-50 index was trading up 45.30 points or 0.41% at 9,351.90. The BSE Mid-cap advanced 0.36% while the BSE Small-cap rose 0.57%.
The market breadth was strong. On BSE, 1396 shares advanced and 892 shares declined and a total of 103 shares were unchanged.
Metal shares soared higher, while IT shares shown mixed note. Wipro Ltd was up over 2% to Rs 505.35 after the company’s net profit advanced 7.2% to Rs 2,267 crore.
Metal stocks is on limelight on the Exchanges. The BSE Metal index was trading higher by 193 pts at 11, 392 level in the morning hours.
The Indian rupee, hits 20-month high as it trades past 64 in the opening hours against the US dollar. The rupee touched a high of 63.96 and was trading at 63.97 per dollar, up 0.40% from its last close of 64.28.
