Share benchmarks have closed on a lower note on Wednesday, amid investors keenly awaited for cues from US Fed meeting that ends later today. The BSE Sensex fell 109.79 points to 36,542.27 while the Nifty50 index fell 13.70 points to 11,053.80.
Indiabulls Housing Finance, UPL, Vedanta, Titan, Hindalco were among major gainers on the NSE, while Tata Motors, SBI, Bharti Infrael, ITC and Wipro were top losers.
Among Sectoral indices on the NSE, Nifty Auto, Nifty FMCG, Nifty IT, and Nifty media suffered losses, whereas Nifty bank, Financial Services, Metal, Pharma, Reality gained. Realty and Metal stocks were the top performers in today’s trade with Nifty Metal index up 1.71% and Nifty Realty up 2.42%.
Shares of PNB rose 0.15% after bank announced that it will consider capital infusion of Rs 5,431 crore by Govt of India by means of preferential issue of equity share.
Shares of telecommunication companies rose after media reported that the Union Cabinet has approved a telecom policy. Reacting to the news, shares of Vodafone Idea gained about 2.35 percent, and Reliance Communication rose 11.69 percent.
