Sensex, Nifty closed flat on a volatile trade on Thursday, after rallying for three consecutive trading sessions. The BSE Sensex ended at 37,754.89 and the NSE Nifty 50 ended at 11,343.25, without adding points.
Among gainers, NTPC, IndusInd Bank, Bharti Airtel, Yes Bank and Sun Pharma rose between 2 & 3 percent. On the other hand HCL Technologies, Hero MotoCorp, Ultratech Cement, Tata Motors and ICICI Bank shed between 1 and 2 percent.
Sectoral indices are seen mixed trend. The Nifty Realty index was among the top outperformer, closing 2.21% higher lead by a strong rally in Phoenix Mills (up 7.48%) and Indiabulls Real Estate (up 6.69%)
Bank Nifty made a record high at opening trade, crossing the 29000-level, which closed at 28923-level on closing.
Shares of DHFL closed 3.64 percent higher at Rs132.55 on NSE after news reports suggested that the National Housing Bank completed its inspection of the company’s book last week and discovered no major deviation.
Shares of Zee Entertainment Enterprises (Zeel) closed 0.02 percent higher at Rs448.90 after news reports claimed that Sony Corp is in active talks to buy a 20-25% stake in the company to form a strategic alliance.
